What a wonderful time we had in the studio recently! Bella, my lovely high school student, was transformed into a Marie Antoinette model through the course of an afternoon. Believe me, it took quite a bit of teamwork to pull this off, so I am really grateful for dedicated and lovely people that can get and share a vision and bring their own commitment to excellence to the table.
I put together mood boards, designed the final looks and bought the supplies needed. Then spent countless hours to put together the outfit.
Shelley (my hair and makeup artist) watched many videos on how to build the hairstyles I needed, then built the extra hair pieces beforehand.
On the day of the photoshoot, while Bella was in hair and makeup, Karlin (Bella’s mom) and I did the finishing touches of the dress. That’s the beauty of a mom staying for the shoot…she becomes an assistant 😉
The photography itself took the least amount of time. But that is the case with any great results: the better and more thorough the preparation (groundwork) the better you will do with the final execution.
You might ask yourself, how this applies to you. Well, dear reader, if you are a high school senior, or the mom of one, think about elaborate dress-up fantasy you have ever had! Becoming Marie Antoinette for a day, or a lorelai, a water nymph, a siren, a gothic princess, a superhero, a steampunk diva…or the curiosity of what you would have looked like living in another time period, like Victorian England or Space Age Future? Or looking like yourself, just more glamorous, or more adventurous, or more like…?
My next blog post will elaborate more on why this is so awesome to do for yourself in your senior year (or gift your senior with, if you are the parent) and how this works.
But first…here are some behind-the-scenes to whet your appetite…
